A Year in Plume
It’s been a year now since Jennifer and I started Plume. What a wild ride! From first putting our early ideas together, to entering the business plan competition, to launching a Kickstarter to get the venture off the ground, to choosing featured writers, to packing and shipping our first Plume packages, to hosting local events, to building our online community, and everything in between, we have put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this endeavor. They say entrepreneurship is no joke, and it isn’t! But we believe in Plume and in our mission to support and encourage women writers, and we are over-the-moon proud to continue on this journey.
Our Writers
We wouldn’t have Plume: A Writer’s Companion without the talented and successful women writers that have generously shared their work with us and our community over the past year. Twelve women, all unique and talented, have inspired us with their creative writing and letters of encouragement. I am always so excited when an upcoming featured writer sends us her materials, and we get to take the first peek at what we’ll be sharing with our subscribers. There’s something magical about women supporting women through creativity.
Kickstarter
Speaking of the letters! Plume is going to put out its first ever anthology in the fall. This book will consist of all the letters of encouragement from our first 12 writers (and as a bonus, a letter from me and a letter from Jennifer!), as well as some writing prompts. We’re Kickstarting this project so we can publish the anthology to share with anyone who didn’t sign up for a subscription, or missed out until now. It’s also a great way to have these fabulous letters all in one place! In addition to going towards design and printing costs, this fundraiser will help us to pay our contributors. Please consider donating, and pass it on to your writerly friends, too! You’ll see on our Kickstarter page that, depending on your donation, we offer various fun rewards in addition to receiving a copy of the anthology. Thank you! Here’s the link to the fundraiser:
The anthology will be out in October, which is a perfect time to start thinking about holiday gifts (including for yourself!).
Happy writing, friends!
