A Year in Plume

This year at Plume has been quite a whirlwind. I returned from maternity leave in January (and Jennifer had been doing such great job holding down the fort!), and we hit the ground running for year two. As both entrepreneurs and writers, we continue to grow and learn every day, and we are excited to continue on this journey with all of you. Here’s a little retrospective of all the rad stuff we did this year.

Early in the year, we signed up for Cratejoy, the online subscription box marketplace, and this has brought so many new subscribers and followers to Plume. We continue to enjoy this partnership and how it has helped us expand our community.

Though it feels like we’ve always had it, technically this was the year we made the Plume Plus box an ongoing subscription. In 2018 and in the beginning of 2019, we only had it available as a one-off gift box, and we primarily just sold the Petite Plume subscription. Speaking of Petite Plume, this was the year we branded it as such. Before dubbing it Petite Plume, we often just referred to it as “the smaller subscription”, “the mailer”, or “hey, you over there in the little envelope!”

In January, we supported the Women’s March in Albuquerque by being one of the march’s official local sponsors. We had so much fun meeting people at the event, and we were happy to show our support for the cause.

This year, we also kickstarted Plume’s very first anthology, a collection of the letters from our first year of Plume featured writers. We’ve hit a few bumps in getting the books made, so they’re coming out a few months later than we anticipated, but we are so excited to get them into our hands, as well as yours soon!

In 2019, we’ve featured 12 kick-ass women writers: Dawn Sperber, Jill Badonsky, Jennifer Lynn Krohn, Erika Wurth, Erin Adair-Hodges, Brenna Gomez, Jennifer Jordán Schaller, Maria DeBlassie, Suzanne Richardson, Cynthia Patton, Michelle Otero, and Sarah Mina Osman-Mikesell. They all create such diverse, rich work, and it has been a joy sharing them with you.

We’ve got a lot of plans for 2020, including a return to the Women’s March, a launch party for the anthology on February 15th (Albuquerque Plumesters, keep an eye on our socials for more details as we get closer!), attending the AWP conference in San Antonio to promote Plume, lining up more fantastic writers and products, beginning to work on our second anthology, and so much more!

Thank you for supporting Plume in 2019! We’re so honored to have you as part of our community. Don’t forget to follow us on our socials:  TwitterInstagram, and/or Facebook. You can also join Plume’s email newsletter and become a monthly Petite or Plus subscriber. We’ve got some great featured women writers already lined up for 2020!
